Nova Scotia Kyokushinkan Karate Club (NSKKC) is a special dojo.  It is a part of the Kyokushin-Kan Canada and Atlantic Canada Kyokushin-kan Karate.  At NSKKC training is as much a part of maintaining the essence of Kyokushin's founder, Sosai Masutatsu Oyama as it is about adding to the quality of life and character of the individual student.

At NSKKC you will learn many things.  Whatever your goals, training at NSKKC can help you gain self confidence, practice self-control and discipline, loose weight, gain flexibility, improve cardio, relief stress, become more energetic and increase positivity in your everyday life.  Children also learn leadership qualities and the value of team work.  There are also opportunities to take part in local, national and international seminars and tournaments.

Benefits of our classes;

At our dojo children and adults learn how:

  • to become confident through physical exercise
  • to avoid violence through discipline
  • to defend themselves against bullying
  • to have fun while learning
  • to develop leadership skills
  • to become more independent

Children: Ages 5 - 7

The focus for children who are between 5 - 7 years old is to have fun doing activities that improve balance and coordination.  At this stage children learn the very basic techniques of Kyokushin Karate including stances, punching, kicking and blocking.

Juniors: Ages 8 - 14

The focus for juniors between 8 - 14 years old is to work on improving balance and coordination with more advanced techniques.  At this stage Juniors learn  more about self confidence, respect and discipline as a way to ensure they have a strong foundation for their  karate. At students become more familiar with the rules of karate, they also are able to have fun that challenges them to remember techniques and kata.

Adults: Ages 14 years old and above:

The focus for our adult class is to provide an environment that all of our students can get the benefit that they are looking for and to meet the high standards of our organization. Through our program our students will learn how to use the their bodies and minds to bring out the best from themselves. Kyokushin karate training teaches us that there is no limit and that we can always push ourselves to be better; this will help us to manage challenges in our daily lives and to be a positive and productive person in our society. Our members can train just for a healthy activity or if they wish we can support them to train competitively and participate in national and international events.

Understanding the true spiritual side of martial arts is through hard and consistent training.
